Who we are

We are a placement desk working for APU nursing students across Southern California. Our focus is narrow on purpose. We study APU's forms, course numbers, hour rules and approval steps in depth, then put that knowledge to work searching for preceptors who fit, preparing what APU's review needs and supporting students from the first message through the last logged hour of the term.

Every page on this site is written from APU's own catalog, program pages, the SON's Google-hosted student hub and its request forms, with sources listed so you can check them yourself. Where APU's documents disagree, we show both versions, and the final say belongs to your syllabus, your clinical faculty and APU's Graduate Placement Team.

Why a service built only for APU

APU asks a lot of its graduate students. Its BSN-to-DNP page places responsibility for finding a clinical site and preceptor on the student, with help from APU staff, faculty and student placement coordinators. In the MSN NP and CNS tracks, placement staff lend a hand and consider distance, yet APU also asks students to locate a nearby site themselves and tell the school about it.

That work lands on working nurses, since APU's MSN and DNP programs expect students to keep working clinically while enrolled. A search built for APU spares them from learning an unfamiliar system under deadline: which preceptors each course accepts, what the request form asks for, why a clinic's legal signer matters and how the affiliation agreement shapes the calendar.

What we do for every student

1. Listen firstWe start with your program, course number, campus, home city and term start, plus any leads you already have.
2. Search near homeWe look for preceptors whose practice matches your course, whether that means a primary care office for GNRS 600 or a pediatric, psychiatric, CNS, educator or leadership setting.
3. Screen against APU's rulesEach candidate is checked for the credential your course accepts and for APU's impartiality rules.
4. Prepare the detailsWe assemble every field APU's request form asks for, from the preceptor's credentials to the clinic's contracting details, plus the site's own onboarding steps.
5. Flag agreement statusYou learn at the start whether the clinic is already under an APU affiliation agreement or whether one must be drafted.
6. Stay on callShould a preceptor leave during the term, a replacement search starts at once.

The APU programs we work with

We work with APU graduate students in every track that needs a preceptor: all four NP specialties in the MSN (FNP, AGPCNP, PNP-PC, PMHNP), the Adult-Gerontology and Pediatric CNS tracks, the School Nurse Services Credential options, APU's post-master's certificates for NPs and CNSs, the Oncology NP Fellowship, BSN to DNP, the post-master's DNP residency in GNRS 732, and both online master's options, Nursing Education and Healthcare Administration and Leadership.

APU assigns clinicals for its traditional BSN, transfer and LVN-to-BSN students and for the ELM prelicensure phase. ELM students can turn to us when they reach the NP or CNS phase, where finding the site becomes part of their own work. The programs hub lists every track with its clinical hours.

Where we work

APU admits MSN APRN students who reside in Southern California, and our search follows them home. We cover the San Gabriel Valley around APU's Azusa campus, Los Angeles County from the Westside to the Antelope Valley, the Inland Empire and the desert communities, Orange County, San Diego and North County, and Ventura, Kern and the Central Coast.

Each region has its own mix of health systems, community clinics and private practices, and its own commute realities. We search across every practice type in your area, from large systems to independent offices, so your options reach well beyond the names you already know. How we work alongside APU

APU's placement team and faculty decide on every site and preceptor in writing, and every site needs an APU affiliation agreement. We treat that review as the finish line our work is built to reach: complete details, preceptors who fit the course and timelines that respect APU's notice window, so a request arrives ready for a decision.

We hold this site to clear standards too. Facts about APU come from APU's own documents, dated guidelines are labeled as dated, conflicting APU sources appear side by side, and anything that lives behind APU's login is described as such rather than guessed at. Each page also carries its update date, because students deserve current, accurate information when a clinical term is on the line.
